A couple of weekends ago, the Graduate Business Council arranged for a free curling session at the Leaside Curling Club. It was my first time curling (although I must admit I’m one of those few folks who actually like to watch curling) and was a lot of fun. Included in the session was 30 minutes of instruction (thank goodness!) and then we were allowed to play on our own.
The 50lb rocks are pretty much half my weight so needless to say the game was a bit more challenging for me than for others, but it actually was a great opportunity to see strategy in action. Curling is an extremely strategic game, not only in planning but in execution. How appropriate since I’m currently taking Corporate Strategy this term.
